One of the best parts of having this site is the chance to connect with other people who truly care about animals.
Liz from Ottawa Dog Blog is one of those people. Liz’s site has a lot of great information on dog stores, parks, breeders, shelters, and charity events. She even has some resources on training and behaviour.
Definitely check it out, even if you’re not from the area. Her focus is on helping families find a new pet from a breeder or shelter.
She’s got a great list of adoption shelters in the Ottawa, Canada area.
Ottawa Dog Blog
Hi ….
Well, we are looking for a dog. Found this, so thought I would send you a note.
We have had a lot of luck with Shepherds, Rotties, a mix of the two, Soft Wheaton Terrier, and some dogs we fell in love with without knowing what they are. In our forty years of marriage we have had some magnificent beauties. I can’t say anything wrong about any of them.
Recently our Shepherd/Rottie pup, age 13, passed away due to Lyme Disease.
We did not know that he had it until it was too late. He never showed any symptoms until the week he got really sick, and not even that. It was just him losing weight. For awhile before he had been getting exercise walking in the bush with a great friend of ours who wanted to tour our eight acres. Sam wanted to go, so he went. Over the weekend after we saw this he lost his sight, like overnight, but still going around like he was fine! What a dog. We loved him so much. When we took him to the vet, it was too late to do anything except to make him comfy…..which we did. He passed away in his sleep a couple of nights later.
SOOooooooooooo
We are looking for a new dog. Probably over one year old, unless it needs a home quickly, ohhhh…we can Foster too, if you need any Foster Parents.
Well, I guess that’s about it. – a large dog; junior age and up; female [I’d like a change] OR male – doesn’t matter; good with cats, we have three great mousers or at least a bit away from eating them! We also have three senior Chihuahuas,
Two at almost 16, and one at eight or nine?., forget.;
We live on almost eight acres of trees, bush and regular country living grounds;
Lots of room to explore.
There are just my husband (Reg) and myself (Cathey). Our children are long gone raising their own families, so there are no small kids. Each of the kids, all three, live in different provinces, so we just go visit and YES we have two sitters when needed.
Well that’s about it.
Thank you for your time.
